Calling on the next federal government to launch a full tax review
Canada’s tax system is riddled with problems and is not delivering for Canadians. The next government – no matter what political stripe – must act on the widespread call for a full tax review.
In the lead up to the 2019 federal election, CPA Canada has written to the leaders of Canada’s federal parties to encourage the incoming government to launch a comprehensive tax review within the first year of its new mandate.
It’s been more than 50 years since the last thorough review and Canada needs a tax system built for today’s modern economy, one that supports Canadians and boosts growth.
With widespread calls to review Canada’s tax system – and public opinion in support of this – now is the time. Led by an independent expert panel, a full review would help to transform Canada’s tax system to be simpler, fairer, more efficient and competitive.
