Build your CPD hours with these forward-focused options

These courses and certificates will help CPAs create a solid foundation to build towards the future

CPA Canada has many options to elevate your continuing professional development (CPD) in 2024.  Beyond the required CPD hours on offer, these opportunities promise to enhance your skillset and widen your world view.

“CPAs in big firms, small and medium enterprises and sole practitioners all must continue to develop their skills in order to be navigating our constantly shifting corporate world,” says Alyssa Hammerstrom Professional Programs Manager at CPA Canada. “We want to ensure that members from across Canada all have access to the best professional development opportunities on the market, and these products definitely have you covered.”

ESG Symposium

The third-annual ESG Symposium will focus on accountability in action. Emphasizing the importance of governance as the foundation of any modern sustainability program, the virtual conference held on June 18 stands to elevate and amplify the growing importance in business of a modern sustainability program.

Topics will range from the latest in International Sustainability Standards Board updates, how to prevent greenwashing and building a sustainable economy in Canada.  If that’s not enough ESG, we also offer our ESG Certificate, which helps CPAs support organizations create value for the long term while maintaining a keen eye on how that value impacts society at large.

Hone your leadership skills

As CPA Canada’ Pivot magazine recently reported, Emotional Intelligence (EI) is a key skill CPAs need to master as time marches on. We can help you use emotional intelligence to be a better leader. This online course will help you link the key aspects of EI – self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management – to your leadership practices and goals, ensuring practical knowledge through real opportunities to exercise.

If your firm is in performance review period it might be a good opportunity to refresh your performance-management skills and Show Up Like a Coach to your employees. Having a coaching mindset is critical to success as a leader and this course will teach you how to ask thoughtful questions and create space for your team members to reach solutions on their own. Empowering your team in this manner will help boost performance.

Your future is in the data

CPAs are on the front lines of safeguarding data, and they occupy a unique position in ensuring it remains reliable and trustworthy. You can boost you and your company’s ability to navigate risk and opportunity with Data Management Foundations. This five-course online certificate will help you harness the power of data and turn it into meaningful insights for strategic decision-making.

A perfect accompaniment to this course will also help organize and analyze all the data in question. Our Comprehensive Excel Certificate is a practical and relevant ten-course online program that features in-depth information on Excel formulas and functions for conducting data analysis, spreadsheet modelling, financial analysis and more.
