Biography

Dan joined the CPA Canada Board of Directors in August 2017.

For the past 25 years, Dan has been in public practice on Vancouver Island and is currently the managing partner of Grant Thornton LLP’s Vancouver Island business unit, consisting of 75 people across four locations.

As partner, Dan has extensive experience in auditing privately held businesses, government and non-profit organizations, and currently controls and manages many assurance engagements.

Further, in his work at Grant Thornton, Dan enjoys providing accounting and advisory services for privately held businesses, specifically in the areas of business succession (including assistance with business valuations and the purchase and sale of business interest) and estate and succession planning. 

Dan has been active in the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia and was co-chair of the CPABC Transitional Steering Committee (2014-2015). He has also sat as chair for Island Savings Credit Union (2008-2010), sat on the Board of Governors for Brentwood College School as both a member (2009-2014) and treasurer (2010-2013), and was the treasurer for the Cowichan Valley Crime Stoppers Society (1996-2000).
