Michele Wood-Tweel

Reporting to the CEO of CPA Canada and the chair of the Public Trust Committee, Michele is responsible for providing staff support to the Council of Chief Executive’s Public Trust Committee, including its various committees, task forces and working groups. This also includes supporting the development of common regulatory structures and processes that are at least as robust as international standards in appropriate areas of regulation for all provincial and territorial CPA bodies.

Before joining CPA Canada, Michele was the CEO and executive director of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia (ICANS) and prior to that role, she practised with KPMG LLP in Halifax for over 20 years. While at ICANS, she also served on the CPA profession’s Council of Chief Executives and chaired the CPA Professional Learning and Development Strategy Committee.

Michele has been active in her community having served on the Boards of the Halifax-Dartmouth Bridge Commission, The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo Society, Halifax Chamber of Commerce, Halifax International Airport Authority, IWK Health Centre Foundation and Efficiency One. Michele is a past Chair of the Board of Governors of Sacred Heart School of Halifax and also of Saint Mary’s University.
