Michael is a task force member of the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AASB)’s project to revise the AASB-CBA Joint Policy Statement. He is a senior director, Treasury, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) and a member of the Asset Liability Management team, which is responsible for optimizing the bank’s balance sheet as well as supporting balance sheet management and decision making. Prior to this role, Michael was a senior director, Chief Accountant’s Division, where he provided accounting advice to all areas of the bank with a focus on hedge accounting, de-recognition, foreign exchange accounting and business combination accounting. Michael also serves as the chair, Audit and Finance Committee for a federally regulated fraternal life insurance entity. Prior to CIBC, Michael worked at TD Bank and General Electric in a number of leadership positions, including subject matter expert on complex accounting issues. Michael began his career with Ernst & Young LLP in Toronto.
