Marilyn DeMara

Marilyn is an audit partner with KPMG. She specializes in the area of charitable organizations, foundations and non-profit organizations. Her clients include several of the largest charities in Canada, many large associations, public and private foundations, government agencies, private schools, and hospitals. Marilyn is responsible for KPMG’s not-for-profit practice on a national basis.

Marilyn is currently on the board of UNICEF, World Wildlife Fund and the Granite Club. Her previous board and committee involvement includes: KPMG Canada, KPMG Foundation, Toronto Zoo, Toronto Zoo Foundation, Imagine Canada, Heart & Stroke Ontario, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Bloorview Children's Hospital, Bloorview Children’s Hospital Foundation, Easter Seals, Havergal College, Canadian Children's Opera Chorus, and the Royal Life Saving Society.

Marilyn has a long history of volunteering with Chartered Professional Accountants (CPAs) in various capacities, including chairing several education committees, assisting at tax clinics, and being interviewed for television shows. She currently sits on the CPA NPO Governance Committee. Marilyn is also part of the Havergal College Mentoring program. Marilyn taught introductory accounting at the University of Toronto for five years. She is also the author of a book on pension accounting, published by Butterworth. Marilyn was recognized as an Fellow Professional Accountant in 1994.
