Nature of work Throughout the CPA PEP Capstone 2 module, candidates write practice cases from past Common Final Examination (CFE) cases, which are authored by CPA Canada. There are 16 practice cases in Capstone 2, 12 of which are marked and four of which are unmarked. NMC markers are needed to assess candidate responses and provide detailed feedback for the following marked CFE practice cases: 2 x Day 1 cases 2 x Day 2 cases* 8 x Day 3 cases* *In week four of Capstone 2, candidates will have the opportunity to write a mock CFE. The mock CFE consists of one Day 2 case and three Day 3 cases. NMC markers will work remotely and use an online marking system called Certification Enterprise (CE), which can be accessed from any location with a stable Internet connection. Qualifications Interested applicants must be a CPA in good standing with their respective provincial/regional CPA body and be interested in facilitating accounting education. Fluency in either English or French is required. Please note that NMC markers will be required to deliver constructive comments in written form. Online facilitation or other marking experience is beneficial but is not a mandatory requirement. After receipt of contact information you will receive additional instructions to complete your registration, and sign up for the marking session in which you are interested. Returning applicants Proceed directly to the marker registration site. When prompted, enter your username and password. Your email address is your username. If you forgot your password, please follow the “Forgot your password” instructions. Marker training After registration, all applicants (new and returning) must complete mandatory training. The training consists of two parts and will be held in late May via webinar. Training dates will be communicated to successful applicants through email. Part 1: Two one-hour training webinars Covering: general background on the CFE and Capstone 2, marking process, feedback standards, marker mentor program, policies and administration technical requirements and marking in CE After the webinars, applicants will complete an online quiz testing their understanding of the content presented in the webinars. Part 2: Sample assessment Applicants will be asked to mark a sample response to a Day 3 case using the CE system. A marker mentor will review the marking and complete a mentor form. This mentor form will be sent to the applicant and will provide constructive feedback as well as a ranking that will be used in hiring decisions. Applicants will participate in a live debrief webinar of the case, the sample response and the suggested marking. Applicants who have successfully completed training will be contacted in June with contract offers.
