CPA Canada is moving forward with our 2021 public commitment to achieve net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions within operations, and to publish a net zero emissions pathway to show our carbon emissions reductions and trajectory towards net zero emissions.

“Sustainability is a key priority for the CPA profession. By taking decisive actions to reduce our own carbon footprint, CPA Canada remains committed to inspiring and empowering Canadian CPAs and business leaders with the knowledge and skills they need to better manage, account for and report on sustainability issues,” says Pamela Steer, president and CEO of Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada.

As an organization, through ongoing development and implementation of our Sustainability initiatives we will:

  • a. Aim to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 40 per cent by 2030 compared to 2019.
  • b. Complete a full inventory of all material Scope 3 emission sources in FY24, developing an associated Scope 3 action plan and targets.
  • c. Monitor and assess the maturing carbon offset markets for consideration in adoption of a carbon neutral state in advance of Canada’s 2050 target*
