Simon Castonguay

Simon is a senior manager in KPMG’s forensic and data analytics practice in Montreal. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), as well as an Investigative and Forensic Accountant (CA IFA) and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). In addition to his forensic accounting and IT background, Simon has been responsible over the years for external and internal audit engagements, IT risk assessment reviews, IT audits, fraud risk assessment reviews and anti-bribery and corruption engagements. Simon brings unique insight by using data analytics techniques and IT-based solutions. In 2010, he published a research project on the impact of cloud computing on forensic accounting practices. In 2011–2012, Simon worked in KPMG’s data insights practice in London, U.K., leveraging transactional data to help his clients better understand the risks they are facing and how they can mitigate them.

Simon has been part of KPMG’s forensic and data analytics team since he joined its advisory practice in 2007, before which he was in KPMG’s audit group in charge of audit teams dedicated to large public corporations. Over the years, Simon has leveraged his audit experience and IT background to build a strong expertise in data analytics in conjunction with forensic accounting and investigations, including proactive fraud risk assessments and anti-bribery and corruption.
