Preet Banerjee

Originally trained as a neuroscientist, and following a brief stint as an aspiring racecar driver, Preet now excels within the world of finance. Best known as a financial panelist on CBC’s The National and as a weekly contributor to The Morning Show on Global, Preet inspires others to become financially empowered through his world-class expertise and unique ability to take the complexity out of money matters. He speaks on behavioural finance, neuroeconomics, and personal finance.

Named one of Canada’s Top 10 Financial Visionaries by advisor.ca in 2011, Preet is currently a consultant to the wealth management industry with a focus on the commercial application of behavioural finance research and fintech. Previously, he worked as a financial advisor and in institutional investment sales and product development. Preet is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute and holds the Derivatives Market Specialist and Financial Management Advisor designations.

In 2009, Preet won the Ultimate W Network Expert Search, a reality show competition, where he was named the host of Million Dollar Neighbourhood on The Oprah Winfrey Network. Preet is also a regular columnist with The Globe and Mail, host of the “Mostly Money” podcast, a creator on YouTube with approximately 90,000 subscribers, and the author of three books with his latest titled Stop Over-Thinking Your Money: The Five Simple Rules of Financial Success.

Currently pursuing a doctorate at the Henley Business School in the UK, Banerjee is a board member with the Foundation for the Advancement of Investor Rights Canada, a governor of the University of Toronto, and founder of MoneyGaps, a hybrid-advisor financial technology startup. In 2012, he was awarded first place in the Portfolio Management Association of Canada’s Excellence in Investment Journalism Awards.
