Nicholas Hann

Nicholas Hann has almost 30 years experience in developing, structuring and investing in major infrastructure projects around the world.  He started his infrastructure career with HSBC in Asia, moving to Australia with Macquarie Group in 1998. Since 2002, he has been based in Canada focused on the North American infrastructure and public private partnership market.

As Senior Managing Director of Macquarie Capital Markets Canada Ltd., and a member of the senior leadership team, he was involved in all aspects of Macquarie’s North American infrastructure business.

Following retirement from Macquarie in 2017, Nicholas served as Head of Investments for the newly established federal Canada Infrastructure Bank where he recruited and led the investment team and was responsible for implementing Canada Infrastructure Bank’s investment strategy and advising on capital deployment and asset management.

Nick has acted as principal investor, asset manager, consortium bid director, financial advisor, debt arranger and government business advisor on projects in a wide range of infrastructure and industry sectors. 

He holds a Master of Arts in Economics and Politics from the University of Oxford. 

Nick serves on the board of the Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships and is active in infrastructure research and education. He has taught infrastructure finance courses at the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business.
