Karen has provided operational and strategic consulting in treasury and corporate finance since 2005. With a background in capital markets and risk, she has streamlined international financial operations, developed controls and risk processes, implemented financial technology, and guided strategic reviews of treasury and finance operations. Clients include global corporations, banks, and governmental entities. She has also provided technical expertise for regulators.
Karen has taught accounting and finance professionals in several countries. Since 2013, she has been faculty in an executive education program at the University of North Carolina. She is the author of several finance books published in the US, Canada, Asia, and Australia, including Essentials of Financial Risk Management and Essentials of Managing Treasury.
Karen is a director of her provincial governing body CPABC, a member of CPA Canada’s Advisory Board for Sustainable Businesses, and she serves on the board of directors of the South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority.
