Jason Li

Jason is the director of the controllership office and deputy treasurer at York Region.  Jason has a long history in provincial and municipal organizations, understands the challenges finance professionals face and the courage it takes to change existing processes in the public sector.  Under his leadership, the Controllership Office improved its financial presentation and achieved an overall grade of A from the CD Howe Institute for transparency and accountability (highest in Ontario).  As a former auditor, Jason has a keen interest in improving internal controls and has partnered with central agencies and operating departments to take an enterprise risk management approach to cyber security and PCI compliance.

Jason is a Chartered Professional Accountant, and achieved Honours standing in the Uniform Evaluation of the Chartered Accountants of Canada in 2007.  Jason earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto.
