As the deputy director, Research, at the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), David is responsible for supporting and providing technical oversight for the SASB Research team. The research team—in conjunction with close oversight by the standards board—identifies and researches financially-material, industry-specific sustainability risks and opportunities in consultation with issuers, investors, and subject matter experts. David also leads SASB’s research activities related to climate change across its industry standards and is additionally responsible for standards development activities related to the extractives and minerals processing sector. Prior to joining SASB, David worked in the oil and gas industry as a process engineer, holding roles in research and development, major capital project design, and production operations. He graduated with high honors in chemical engineering and materials science and engineering from University of California, Berkeley and is currently pursuing his Master’s in Business Administration at the Berkeley Haas School of Business.
