Cathy McLay

CPA, CMA

Cathy is the CFO and executive vice-president, Finance and Corporate Services, of TransLink. In mid-2015, Cathy was appointed acting CEO of TransLink until the permanent CEO was hired in March 2016, when she resumed her role as CFO and executive vice-president. Prior to her work at TransLink, she served as the general manager for Canadian Forest Products Ltd. and the corporate controller for Howe Sound Pulp and Paper Corporation. She has an extensive background in finance, strategic planning, major capital projects, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, organizational restructuring and leading teams through significant change.

Cathy is an award-winning executive with solid business results in both the public and private sectors. She won Business in Vancouver’s 2013 CFO of the Year award in the Transformation Agents Category; the Association of Women in Finance (AWF) 2015 Peak Award for Excellence in the Public Sector; and was shortlisted for the Women’s Infrastructure Network (WIN) award for outstanding leader in 2015 (top five in Canada)

She is currently serving on the Board of Directors for Coast Mountain Bus Company (a subsidiary of TransLink), Transportation Property & Casualty Company Inc. and Providence Health Care. Previously, Cathy served on the Board of Directors for Vancouver Coastal Health and as director and president of the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Corporation.

An International Certified Business Coach, Cathy is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CMA), holds a business administration diploma in finance and accounting and is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) Directors Education Program.
