Peter Hargitai

Peter is a partner in the Risk Assurance Services (RAS) practice of PwC Canada with over 23 years of experience. He leads PwC's National Digital Trust Solutions practice with a focus on emerging and disruptive technologies prioritizing on blockchain, robotic process automation, cyber security and privacy, enterprise cloud technologies and transformation assurance. He sits on the Canadian RAS leadership team that oversees over 40 partners and 400 professionals in the practice with day-to-day operations and go to markets responsibilities

Peter has taken on a leadership role in the PwC global network in the area of blockchain and crypto currency technology enabled assurance offerings, reporting directly to the PwC Global Clients & Markets Assurance Leader. He has also been leading PwC Canada's blockchain technology markets and delivery strategy. His specialization includes governance framework and risk taxonomy design and implementation for emerging and disruptive technologies. In this capacity, he has consulted with Ontario and Quebec regulators and standard setters in helping to shape evaluation criteria for new markets entrance. He has been asked to present on various emerging technology topics at Audit Committees and marquee business conferences.

Peter is also the global IT audit partner for some of PwC most iconic audit clients with head offices in Canada focused on risks and controls associated with enterprise systems. He led various ERP implementations, go live support engagements and post implementation reviews across clients. He also has multiple years of experience auditing the IT systems of Sunnybrook and St Michael's hospitals.

Peter has served on the Board of CPA Canada's IT Alliance and has recently contributed to CPA Ontario's thought leadership paper on blockchain / cryptocurrencies. He taught emerging issues for advance accounting (part time basis) at York University.

Peter is a resident of Thornhill/ Markham for the past 12 years. He is a proud father of daughter Michaela who is in grade 12 high school and has completed a co-op term at St Michael’s Hospital Renal Transplant division and volunteered at Sunnybrook St John's Rehabilitation Centre for 2 years in addition to summer volunteering in Mount Sinai's Pancreatic Cancer research centre. He is also an active sports Dad supporting son Jonathan's participation in grade 8 Thornhill Thunder basketball rep program and track training and competition through York University's Track Club.

He is a graduate of the University of Toronto's Bachelor of Commerce program, Chartered Accountant from Ontario (CPA. CA) and Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP)>
