John Hewie

John is national security officer with Microsoft Canada, responsible for leading the company’s strategy in country to develop trust in Microsoft technology. In this role John supports senior leaders across governments and businesses with their strategic cyber security, information assurance and compliance requirements. John is a Microsoft veteran with two decades working in technical sales, business development and consulting roles for Microsoft, supporting the defence, national security and public safety community in Canada.

Prior to Microsoft, John wrote code and drove technical architecture of physical security access control system products at Integrated Security Solutions. A computer science graduate of Algonquin College and a lifelong learner, John was first exposed to hacking and computer security on the Commodore 64. He now directs his professional passion towards helping Canadian organizations embrace digital transformation while preserving the security and privacy of their information.
