Alberta celebrates arrival of the CPA designation

With the proclamation of the Chartered Professional Accountants Act, Alberta’s designated accountants proudly welcomed the arrival of the CPA designation to their province on Canada Day.

A TIME TO CELEBRATE

On July 1, 2015, the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta (CPA Alberta) was established with the proclamation of the Chartered Professional Accountants Act by the government of Alberta. Members can now officially use the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in conjunction with their legacy designation.

With CPA legislation now in effect, Alberta is home to over 27,000 CPAs.

Status of unification across Canada

All 40 accounting bodies in Canada have either unified or are participating in discussions to unite under the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) banner.
