It’s official! 190,000 PROS, one designation

CPA Canada is Canada’s sole national accounting body.

October 1 marked the final step in the creation of CPA Canada—Canada’s sole national accounting body created through the consolidation of operations of three national accounting organizations: the Society of Management Accountants of Canada, the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

With nearly 400 employees across four locations and a member-base of more than 190,000 professional accountants, CPA Canada is now one of the largest national accounting bodies in the world. That gives Canadian professional accountants a unified voice – and one with tremendous influence both nationally and internationally.

The historic occasion resulted in congratulations from many Canadian and international leaders, including Canada’s federal ministers of Finance and National Revenue and Former Auditor General of Canada Sheila Fraser, among others.

View the congratulations as they appeared in The Globe and Mail, the National Post and Les Affaires.
