The Practitioners Technical Advisory Board assists Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) in determining our strategy and action plan regarding:

  • accounting standards for private enterprises (ASPE)
  • accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations (ASNPOs) non-authoritative guidance and support
  • audit and assurance non-authoritative guidance and support, with a focus on the needs of the small- to mid-sized practitioner (SMP)


  • identify the needs and challenges of SMPs in the areas of ASPE, ASNPOs and audit and assurance and help provide timely and relevant guidance and support
  • discuss concerns and input raised by various stakeholders such as standards staff, provincial body practice advisors, practice inspectors, etc.


  • three to four full-day meetings, held annually in Toronto
  • conference calls between meetings, as needed
  • preparation in advance of the meeting by reviewing the agenda and related meeting materials (materials will be circulated in advance of meeting)
  • three-year terms, renewable up to a maximum of six years


  • in-depth knowledge of ASPE, ASNPOs and audit and assurance (including the Canadian Auditing Standards), specifically audits of SMEs
  • member in public practice working with private small- to mid-market enterprises and NFPOs
  • senior manager to partner position preferred
