The Not-for-Profit Organization (NFPO) Accounting and Assurance Committee is a new committee being formed to assist Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) in preparing non-authoritative guidance to support the application of the requirements in both Part III of CPA Canada’s Handbook – Accounting (the Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations [ASNPOs]) and CPA Canada’s Handbook – Assurance


  • identify needs of practitioners relating to the application of ASNPOs
  • identify needs of practitioners relating to the performance of audits of NFPOs
  • discuss both NFPO accounting and assurance technical issues to assist in the preparation of non-authoritative guidance
  • perform detailed technical reviews of non-authoritative guidance


  • three to four full day meetings held annually in Toronto
  • conference calls between meetings, as needed
  • preparation by committee members in advance of the meeting by reviewing the agenda and related meeting materials (materials will be circulated in advance of meeting)
  • three year terms, renewable up to a maximum of six years


  • in-depth knowledge of ASNPOs
  • minimum of 10 years’ experience auditing small- to mid-sized private NFPOs
  • senior manager to partner position preferred
