Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) is recruiting for a new advisory group that will focus on profession-wide matters on the future of audit and assurance. This new advisory group will help CPA Canada continue to develop its strategy and action plan to prepare our members for the future audit and assurance profession.

Responsibilities

The advisory group will help CPA Canada:

  • identify the profession-wide matters that CPA Canada might focus on when contributing to the global conversation about the future of audit and assurance
  • develop the strategy for the most relevant and timely thought leadership priorities and projects
  • develop strategies related to a range of initiatives including, but not limited to, audit data analytics and evolving technology that impact the audit and assurance profession, the role of audit in emerging reporting frameworks and the evolving expectations of audit beyond traditional applications
  • define the audit and auditor of the future in the context of a rapidly changing world

Commitment

Members of the new advisory group will be expected to commit to:

  • two full-day meetings a year in Toronto
  • conference calls between meetings, as needed
  • an additional in-person meeting that might be required in the first year after the committee is established
  • reviewing the agenda and related meeting materials before the meetings (materials will be circulated in advance of the meeting)
  • a three-year term renewable up to a maximum of six years

Qualifications

An applicant should have:

  • a passion for the audit profession
  • an interest in innovation and the future
  • in-depth knowledge of audit and assurance (including Canadian Auditing Standards); knowledge of evolving technologies is an asset
  • involvement in innovation initiatives or other leadership roles
  • an understanding of strategic foresight is an asset
  • a partner position or be a senior member in business
