Monica Murray: Giving back to our profession

This CPA tirelessly volunteers her expertise while maintaining a work-life balance.

The first two decades of Monica Murray’s professional career navigated her through the waters of finance, accounting, project management, business development, HR and entrepreneurship. As a Chartered Professional Accountant working with big four public practice, internationally publicly-traded companies, a high-end custom publishing house and seven years as the CEO of an executive search firm, she's a right-leaning left brain who's accustomed to managing new opportunities.

Monica is a dedicated volunteer not only for us as the national body, but also for CPABC. She has received awards for her volunteer work in British Columbia and constantly gives back to her community through active participation with various boards and committees.

Monica is a founding member of our Women’s Leadership Committee and was also the chair of our former Work Life Advisory Committee. Currently she is a volunteer board member of the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs and is also on the organizing committee of the AICPA Women’s Global Leadership Summit (and is a panellist at the Summit).

Despite giving so much back to our profession, Monica believes it is important to maintain work-life balance: "Don't be rigid with what work-life balance means and make sure it's clearly defined to articulate why balance is important. It means different things for different people and at different stages of life.”
