Q1 2020 CPA Canada Business Monitor cancelled

Due to the stress and uncertainty caused by COVID-19, CPA Canada has cancelled the Q1 2020 Business Monitor. Going forward, the quarterly survey work is suspended until further notice.

Toronto, April 7, 2020 – Citing the stress, disruptions and uncertainty caused by COVID-19, CPA Canada will not survey members to acquire  data for the Q1 2020 Business Monitor and has cancelled the corresponding t report.

Canada’s chartered professional accountants are dealing with unprecedented challenges to their personal and business lives so it was deemed inappropriate to contact them to participate in the survey.

The CPA Canada Business Monitor study started in Q2 2007 with a legacy body and has run quarterly since then. Business Monitor draws upon the insights of professional accountants in leadership positions in privately and publicly held companies. The report provides an economic snapshot of how  Canadian business leaders feel about the national l economy and prospects for their own organizations, as well as other pressing issues.

CPA Canada will monitor the situation to assess when it would be appropriate to once again begin surveying its members for this report.

Methodology

The CPA Canada Business Monitor is usually issued quarterly, based on a survey commissioned by CPA Canada and conducted by Nielsen. For a typical quarterly study, surveys are emailed to just over 4,000 people identified by CPA Canada as holding senior positions in industry (CFOs, CEOs, COOs and other leadership roles).
