CPA Canada and Zimbabwe CA body sign first reciprocal membership agreement

The first Reciprocal Membership Agreement (RMA) between Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ) came into effect on April 1, 2019.

Toronto, April 11, 2019 – The first Reciprocal Membership Agreement (RMA) between Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ) came into effect on April 1, 2019.

The RMA specifies the criteria by which members of one body are eligible for membership in the other. It was signed by the Canadian profession’s national body, CPA Canada, on behalf of the CPA provincial and territorial bodies and the Chartered Professional Accountants of Bermuda, which has a long affiliation with the Canadian CPA profession.

“Canada’s accounting profession is committed to increasing international labour mobility through comprehensive international credential recognition agreements,” says Joy Thomas, president and CEO, CPA Canada. “We’re excited to offer a pathway to achieving the Canadian CPA designation for Zimbabwe CAs while also creating an entryway for Canadian CPAs. These agreements, which help facilitate career opportunities and economic growth, are a great example of how professional bodies can span borders and work in harmony.”
