CRA launches national consultations to improve services for businesses and accountants

Have your say this fall during the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Serving You Better consultations. Your feedback can help improve the services CRA offers to small and medium-sized businesses and accountants.

Building on its 2012, 2014 and 2016 initiatives, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has launched the 2018 Serving You Better (SYB) consultations to improve the services offered by the CRA to small and medium businesses and accountants.

The CRA is looking for feedback on the service improvements it has made to date and on new planned initiatives to ensure it meets the needs of small and medium businesses, as well as suggestions on ways to better serve the business community.

As in 2016, this year’s consultations will continue to focus on the following four themes:

  • modernize and raise awareness of the CRA’s digital services
  • make tax information easier to access, understand, and use
  • clarify information about payment options
  • improve services related to the audit, collections, and appeals processes

CPA Canada is working with provincial bodies and members to ensure that the profession actively participates in this important dialogue, and that our views are taken into consideration as the CRA looks to make ongoing improvements to its services and programs.

How you can participate:

This national consultation process is an excellent opportunity for CPAs to provide their input and insights about how the CRA can make it easier for them and their clients to meet their tax obligations.

CPA Canada plans to make a written submission to the CRA as part of the 2018 SYB national consultation process.
