Program Coordinator, Professional Learning and Development, Education Services

CPA Canada is seeking to add a key position to our Member Development and Support department.

CPA Canada is the national organization representing the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) profession in Canada.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Program Manager, Professional Learning and Development, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for the execution of education programs including in-person and online/virtual courses and conferences.  The individual will require experience in program planning, coordination and administration of educational programs; as well as, having experience managing external vendors.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following;

  • Create documentations as needed e.g., critical paths, timelines, agendas, faculty and participant communications, course materials, survey monkey evaluations and post event reports.
  • Assist the Program Manager with the online registration set-up and all event web posting, including set-up/maintenance of the Conference App.
  • Responsible for the quality control of event web materials. 
  • Coordinate all event program logistics including venue logistics and all food and beverage arrangements, event materials, speaker/exhibitor arrangements, audio-visual requirements, etc.
  • Responsible for the speaker/faculty engagement letters and coordinate all speaker/faculty requests, including accommodation, travel arrangements, special dietary requirements, etc.
  • Responsible for the quality control of program materials including ensuring that branding standards are met.
  • Manage the web posting and printing of all onsite materials and coordinate shipment of materials.
  • Ensure accuracy of all program expenses; verify each invoice and process for payment, track all expenses and provide expense reports at the end of each event.
  • Assist with program administration of online courses and training sessions.
  • Represent CPA Canada with high professionalism; remain professional in person and by phone when communicating with internal stakeholders, speakers, exhibitors, participants, etc.

  • Performance Management Certificate
  • In-Depth Brokers and Investment Dealers Course
  • Other Sustainability and Management Accounting programming (virtual classrooms, courses)

The Candidate

The Ideal Candidate will have the following skills and experience;

  • 3 years of experience in coordinating professional learning programs including event management and administration, preferably in an association/education management function, demonstrating increasing experience and accountability
  • Knowledge of best practices in event planning and strong work standards
  • Experience in coordinating with external service providers and vendors to ensure smooth coordination of professional learning events
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Task-oriented with ability to multitask and work under pressure
  • Superior time management skills; proven track record of delivering events on time; ability to manage multiple events simultaneously with acute attention to details
  • Flexibility to manage and reset priorities to accommodate program changes, new offerings or other deviations impacting the portfolio
  • Ability to be proactive and work with minimum supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to adapt different communication methods according to situational requirements 
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to problem solve
  • Ability to recognize and willingness to assist others to achieve team success
  • Aptitude for building strategic working relationships
  • Good understanding of AV requirements; experience with webinars and virtual meetings would be an asset
  • Experience working with tools and technologies supporting program coordination
