Manager, Product Coordination, Precertification Education – 24 Month Contract – Toronto/Burnaby

CPA Canada is seeking to add a key position to our Precertification Education department.

CPA Canada is the national organization representing the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) profession in Canada.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Project Manager - Precertification, the Manager - Product Coordination will participate in the hiring, training, mentoring, guidance and performance management of Product Coordinators. The Manager - Product Coordination will support the development and delivery of programs and projects to sponsors and stakeholders throughout the Precertification Education department. The successful candidate will oversee the translation process for all Precertification Education materials that require French material.

In this role, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Manage Product Coordination Team

  • Monitor team performance and report on metrics
  • Motivate team members
  • Oversee day-to-day operations
  • Assist Project Manager with data gathering and analytics as required

Planning and Coordination (Product Coordination and Management)

  • Coordination
    • Act as primary contact for internal and external stakeholders with regard to the scheduling, contracting and invoicing issues.
    • Monitor progress of projects and identify potential issues.
    • Provide input and recommendation to leadership in developing mitigation and avoidance strategies.
  • Planning
    • Develop schedules for stakeholder review
    • Work with stakeholders to resolve scheduling issues
    • Identify and communicate potential risks
    • Escalate issues to appropriate leadership
    • Complete changes to project schedules using approved processes

Communication and Reporting (Product Coordination and Management)

  • Communicate with team members, management and external stakeholders as necessary to ensure each product meets expected deliverables.
  • Ensure that key deadlines are clearly communicated and followed-up on with internal and external stakeholders, while alerting team members to any potential risk of missing dates.
  • Escalate issues to the appropriate leadership using professional judgement, tact and diplomacy.
  • Address or escalate issues identified by Product Coordination team.
  • Develop and communicate daily reporting as determined by current process
  • Create ad-hoc reports as requested
  • Other duties as assigned

Quality Control and Assurance

Coordinate project work by validating that all defined deliverables have been produced as outlined in the project schedules.

Identify and collaborate with various stakeholders to implement process efficiency and risk mitigation opportunities.

Identify potential opportunities to improve processes, procedures and tools and bring suggestions to the attention of management.

Test and provide input into new tools and processes

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have the following education, skills and experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of Project Management/Product Coordination experience
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience
  • Proficient in MS Project and SharePoint
  • Intermediate knowledge of quality control measures and implementation of same.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Significant experience in overseeing processes
  • Excellent organizational, negotiation, strategic thinking and cognitive skills
  • Excellent planning and time management skills with an eye for detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven professional approach when dealing with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong project scope management and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to high-stress situations

Other matters

This position may be based in either Burnaby or Toronto.

This position is a 24 month contract, with a possibility of extension.
