Manager, Member Support

CPA Canada is seeking to add a key position to our International department.

CPA Canada is the national organization representing the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) profession in Canada.

The Opportunity

The International Group is dedicated to building the profile of the Canadian CPA profession internationally.  This includes supporting the accounting profession in the markets where CPA Canada has an active presence and working with new, developing economies and professional accountancy organizations (PAOs) to support their growth and development.

Reporting to the Vice President, International this position provides support for International CPA members and International Chapters.   The role will assist Chapters and members in developing and managing budgets and business plans, providing governance oversight and organizing professional development learning (PLD) and networking events.    

The position will be responsible for working collaboratively with other CPA Canada departments including Member Development and Support, Research, Guidance and Support and Corporate Citizenship to seek ways to utilize existing assets and to develop relevant materials for our members.   

In this role, responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Work with Chapter boards to plan relevant PD events, networking opportunities, hire 3rd party speakers, etc.
  • Assist the Chapter boards in managing event logistics
  • Oversee Chapter budgeting/spending
  • Attend Chapter board meetings (virtually and, from time to time, in-person)/review minutes/provide board support and guidance
  • Work with stakeholders to increase member engagement
  • Represent the International department on related interprovincial working groups
  • Develop/format/distribute Chapter newsletter using content from Chapter Boards and other sources
  • Manage CPA International website

The Candidate

The Ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • University degree, CPA designation preferred
  • 4 – 5 years post designation experience or 5-10 years of experience in a business environment
  • Strong organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Critical thinker with ability to deal with ambiguity and change
  • Experience with volunteers and member engagement
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to prioritize
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with superior verbal and written communication abilities
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Highroads/website management (HTML) experience an asset
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal groups, regional/provincial bodies and other stakeholders

Other matters

This position is currently based in Toronto, other locations will be considered.  Some travel will be required.
