Front-End Specialist, Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs

CPA Canada is seeking to add a key position to our Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs department.

CPA Canada is the national organization representing the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) profession in Canada.

The Opportunity

CPA Canada is embarking on an exciting transition to position the organization as an influential thought leader in the Canadian business community and a leading Canadian professional organization with a first class editorial content operation—one that will create value for current and future Chartered Professional Accountants, as well as make the CPA Canada a trusted source for both large and small Canadian businesses.

In order to make this transition, the Marketing, Communications & Public Affairs Department is creating a Digital Hub. The Hub will produce content of an editorial nature—compelling news, thought leadership and storytelling, in long or short form, chiefly for CPA members, students and Canadians in business.

The Front End Specialist will be responsible for creating and designing first-class user experiences on the web and other interfaces focused on making it effortless/easy for a user to achieve what they need to do while aligning with the organization’s business and marketing objectives. Working cross-functionally with product, brand marketing, content, development teams, back-end developers, architects, and designers the specialist helps bring solutions to life. These solutions will be based on a deep understanding of user needs and behaviours, analytics, best practices and organizational goals.

The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Design and develop compelling user experiences/interfaces using data, best practices, and digital design principles that support business objectives.
  • Create mock-ups and wireframes to help convey concepts in supporting the development process across front-end and back-end developers and other staff.
  • Brainstorm and develop storyboards and create layouts of creative visual content
  • Collaborate with teams to understand their user experience goals, especially as it relates to usability and engagement
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments regarding layout, functionality and user interface interactions and to ensure AODA compliance
  • Work closely with the Content Hub and Digital teams on ideas and concepts and be able to create mock-ups and prototypes
  • Build and implement digital interfaces and components that support enhancing the user/customer experience
  • Responsible for developing responsive templates and components using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, integrating templates into Sitecore Develop and build revenue generation opportunities as needed to support advertising within the hub
  • Maintain documentation (requirements, design guidelines, technical specifications, wireframes, etc.)
  • Manage development/implantation projects, delivering on time and on budget
  • Plan, develop and implement user experience testing programs to improve the user/customer experience driving further engagement and Lifetime Value (LTV) with users.
  • Run A/B and multi-variant testing, heat maps click tracking, and other measurements to continuously improve the UX/CX.
  • Monitor user behavior analytics and patterns, providing analysis and recommendations to improve the user’s/customer’s journey

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphical Design, Technical Communications, Industrial Design, or a related discipline / formal design training
  • 3-5 years of professional experience as a User Experience (UX) designer
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, JQuery, Bootstrap or
  • Foundation, SASS or LESS
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as angular.js, knockout.js, ember.js
  • Experience with digital platforms beyond the browser – mobile, audio interfaces, multi-touch, widgets, desktop software, UI components and controls
  • Strong understanding of usability (UX/UI) principles
  • Experience developing accessible applications and website to meet AODA compliance
  • Experience using Sitecore content management system
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities  
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deal with changing priorities
