Associate Producer, Marketing, Communications & Public Affairs

CPA Canada is seeking to add a key position to our Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs department.

CPA Canada is the national organization representing the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) profession in Canada.

The Opportunity

CPA Canada is embarking on an exciting transition to position the organization as an influential thought leader in the Canadian business community and a leading Canadian professional organization with a first class editorial content operation—one that will create value for current and future Chartered Professional Accountants, as well as make CPA Canada a trusted source for both large and small Canadian businesses.

In order to make this transition, the Marketing, Communications & Public Affairs Department (MC&PA) is creating a Digital Hub. The Hub will produce content of an editorial nature—compelling news, thought leadership and storytelling, in long or short form, chiefly for CPA members, students and Canadians in business.

Reporting to the Managing Editor, Platforms, the Associate Producer is a skilled, digital-first journalist who will research, write and edit content (short and long form) and post multimedia content (including selecting photography and contributing to graphics, videos, infographics, and other interactive materials). They will uncover timely story ideas from a variety of sources, including experts at CPA Canada; pitch concepts to the Managing Editor, Platforms; and bring those stories to life in digital formats, which also includes working with the Designer, Platforms and CPA Canada Production Studio.

The Associate Producer will maintain a repository of editorial materials that can be leveraged and reused to meet the needs of the department. The Associate Producer will also be responsible for monitoring content results, maintaining records and reporting on the products developed.

The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Research, write, edit and produce (or lead the production of) English and/or French digital products including digitally native written content, and contributing to video elements, infographics, social media posts, and other digital content in support of CPA Canada editorial content strategies
  • Ensuring SEO is ingrained into all content produced
  • Curating, production and repackaging inputs for marketing communications events as well as MC&PA content planning
  • Monitoring of performance leveraging platform analytics, Sitecore and Kapost delivering analysis and insights that will support continuous improvement in content production
  • Provide recommendations for increasing overall effectiveness of content based on data/analysis
  • Assist in the development of processes to streamline work efficiency and enhance quality and effectiveness, contributing to continuous improvement
  • Act as a change agent/enabler to support the organizations ongoing transformation and introduce best practices in digital production
  • Stay up to date on and utilize emerging digital technologies and features

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Degree in journalism, communications or other relevant discipline
  • 3+ years of professional experience in digital-first multimedia newsroom or corporate content marketing operation
  • Copywriting, creative design ability and storytelling skills
  • Expert ability crafting best-in-class content for various digital platforms, including a deep understanding of digital space and trends from a content perspective
  • Comfortable with performing under tight and exacting content standards deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deal with changing priorities
