CPA Canada is the national organization representing the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) profession in Canada The Opportunity Reporting to the Manager, General Accounting and Internal Reporting, the Accountant works independently and with business units across CPA Canada to support accurate and timely financial reporting. In this role, responsibilities will include but not limited to bank reconciliations, fixed assets management, royalty expense statement preparation, commodity tax filing, accounting activities for international chapters, journal entries, accruals and monthly accounts reconciliations, etc. Also, this role will manage the day-to-day activities and workflow, including multiple currencies, batching of international transactions, providing regular and ad-hoc analysis as needed. The Accountant will provide high quality support to business partners as needed, enabling the business to deliver on the mission and vision of CPA Canada. The Accountant will also assist in interim and year-end audit processes. In this role, responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Administer day to day accounting activities related to the Bank Reconciliations, Fixed Asset Management, and various inquiries. Responsible for the Month-end duties related to the Bank Reconciliations, Fixed Assets Management, Royalty Expense Management, Commodity Tax Filings, International Chapter Support, Expense Analysis and assigned Balance Sheet and Reconciliations. Support the Interim and Year-end Audit Engagement. Prepare forecast and budget information related to rent and operating expenses, amortization and shared costs. Support the Forecast and Budget Process as required. Coordinate with business units at key intervals as required (month-ends, quarter-ends, year-end, forecast and budget periods) to compile required data for financial reporting. Illustrate a continuous improvement mindset with respect to the processes in Finance and Legal and in conjunction with supporting the corporate journey of Excellence Canada. Adhere to CPA Canada policies and procedures. The Candidate The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience: Designated Chartered Professional Accountant or in process of obtaining designation 3 – 5 years of accounting and relevant work experience Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Sound relationship management and interpersonal skills Exceptional attention to detail Strong time-management, planning and organization skills with the ability to prioritize Resilience and the ability to work in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment Strong computer skills using MS office applications, especially Excel Other matters This position is based in Toronto.
