Robert Strachan, past CPA Canada board member

As former chair of the CPA Canada Board of Directors, Robert Strachan helped CPA Canada achieve our key objectives, and provided direction for governance and management.

Biography

Bob was the previous chair of the CPA Canada Board of Directors.

He joined the board in in January 2013, and has served as both vice chair (2013-2014) and chair (2014-2015). Prior to that, Bob was co-chair of the National Steering Committee overseeing the formation of CPA Canada in 2012.

In 2013, he retired from his management position in finance with the Capital Regional District (1986-2013). Within the organization he held various senior management positions in the areas of financial and risk management, treasury, asset, management and taxation.

Since earning his CMA designation, Bob has become an active advocate for the CMA and CPA designations and the Canadian accounting profession. He served as a member of the board of directors for CMA British Columbia (1998-2005), including chair of the board (2001-2003). Bob also served as a member of the CMA Canada National board of directors (2006-2011), including chair of the board (2009-2011).

Bob is a strong advocate of giving back to the community and has contributed to a number of boards and committees. The most recent include:
