Education and qualifications:

  • Diploma of Technology in Accounting, British Columbia Institute of Technology, 1977
  • Certified General Accountant, 1980
  • Fellow Certified General Accountant, 1998

Biography

John joined the CPA Canada Board of Directors in June 2013.

Since 1985, he has been a partner with Reid Hurst Nagy Inc., Certified General Accountants. Prior to his employment with the firm, he held various banking positions (1978-1981), including management training with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and inspector with the Credit Union Reserve Board of B.C. In addition, he worked as a staff accountant at Brock H. Oakley and Co. Certified General Accountants (1981-1985).

Committed to both the community and his profession, John has served on the following boards and committees:

  • Real Estate Council of British Columbia
  • Accounting Practices Advisory Committee to the Minister of Finance (B.C.)
  • Accounting Standards Oversight Council of Canada
  • Certified General Accountants of Canada (CGA-Canada) — numerous committees and chair of the board
  • Certified General Accountants of BC (CGA-BC) — numerous committees and president and chair of the board
