Biography

Alain joined the CPA Canada Board of Directors in October 2016.

Recognized for his expertise in financial institutions, Alain provided finance and audit counsel for 35 years to companies of all sizes, until he retired as a PwC audit partner in the banking, life insurance, P&C insurance, securities brokerage and mutual fund sectors. He was also the managing partner of PwC’s audit and assurance services in Quebec, as well as a member of PwC Canada’s audit leadership team and Partnership Board. He was a financial and cost accounting lecturer for several years at Université du Québec à Montréal.

Alain’s experience extends to identifying financial and operational risks, and using risk management and control tools. Because of his extensive knowledge of the regulatory, compliance, audit and accounting environment, he was frequently asked to act as a commercial dispute arbitrator and an expert witness in accounting and auditing matters. Alain was a member of the Transition Committee created in 2011 by the Office des professions du Québec to oversee the unification of the accounting profession in Quebec. He also served as chair of the Ordre des CPA du Québec from 2014 to 2016.
