The Member Development and Support portfolio ensures the delivery of products and services that support members in continuing relevancy and currency in the business communities they serve. As such, Janet is responsible for anticipating and providing professional development programs and many of CPA Canada’s leading publications to its members. Janet is also responsible for assisting CPA Canada’s contribution to social and economic development — domestically and abroad.

Prior to joining CPA Canada, Janet was vice-president, Member Services, at the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario. As a member of the senior executive team, Janet was responsible for supporting the membership through the delivery of relevant and high-quality post-certification learning and development, as well as key member services including innovative courses, webinar series and member benefit programs.

Janet began her career in an active not-for-profit organization, then joined a large publicly traded organization, Honeywell Aerospace Division, as a principal financial analyst. At Honeywell she performed financial analysis, learning how to identify and resolve business issues, identifying key drivers and assisting in the growth of the business. Her passion, however, remained with the not-for-profit sector as she in time joined the Certified Management Accountants of Ontario.

There, Janet served as vice-president, Professional Development, and was responsible for all programs leading to the designation and post-certification programs, and participated in the development and execution of the transformation of CMA Ontario into a high-performing organization. Janet also led the team that successfully provided the rights to CMA Ontario to license and govern its members for public accounting. She was also an essential participant in the unification and integration process of the three legacy accounting bodies in Ontario.

Today, Janet sits on the Complaints and Investigations Committee for the Human Resources Professionals Association. She has also been an advisory board member to both the IEP Bridging Program at York University and Humber College’s Accounting Advisory Committee.
