Dentons introduces Intelligence & Strategic Services practice 

Beth WilsonWith multiple security threats and vulnerabilities faced by organizations, Dentons has launched its own Intelligence & Strategic Services (ISS) practice, which offers executive advisory services for businesses to prevent and respond to such incidences.

Key service areas of the ISS include: physical, personal and digital security; incident response and crisis management; corporate governance; political and market risk analysis and regulatory reviews.

“Formalizing our global international capabilities has led to more efficient mobilization when our clients need us most and, more importantly, providing them with holistic protection to secure their people and assets worldwide,” said Karl V. Hopkins, partner and chief global security officer, who chairs the practice.

“[Dentons] is recognized in Canada and globally for its innovation, focus on delivering value and results to clients, and commitment to an inclusive culture that empowers diverse teams and supports entrepreneurial spirit,” said Beth Wilson, FCPA, FCA, and former KPMG Greater Toronto Area managing partner, after being named CEO of Dentons Canada last year.

New CFO at Toronto Hydro

Aida CipollaAida Cipolla, CPA, CA, was recently named the new chief financial officer (CFO) at Toronto Hydro Corporation, replacing Sean Bovingdon

Cipolla has worked with Toronto Hydro since 2008 and was the corporation’s controller since December 2015. She holds more than 15 years of progressive experience in financial reporting, financial systems and controls and financial planning and analysis.

“Aida’s extensive experience within the energy sector and in the public accounting sector is an excellent foundation to lead Toronto Hydro’s capable financial team,” said Anthony Haines, president and CEO, Toronto Hydro.

Cipolla’s role came into effect on August 27, 2018.

Collins Barrow National expands Western presence

Collins Barrow Vancouver, Wolrige Mahon and CW Group have merged to form one of Collins Barrow National’s largest audit, tax and consulting firms.

Named Wolrige Mahon Collins Barrow (WMCB), the newly established company will offer a full range of financial advisory services using the combined expertise of the three independent organizations.

“These mergers were specifically initiated to build and deliver even greater value to our clients,” said Paul Websdale, managing partner of the new WMCB in Vancouver.
