The ONE 2018: Collaboration between CPA Canada and the four Atlantic provinces

CPA Canada and the four Atlantic provincial accounting bodies sign a co-sponsor agreement for The ONE National Conference 2018 in Halifax.

CPA Canada has signed on to co-sponsor The ONE National Conference 2018 along with the provincial bodies from New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.

The ONE 2018 runs October 1-2 in Halifax, Nova Scotia and will feature numerous optional pre- and post-conference workshops.

“Partnering with the four Atlantic provinces reinforces the importance of collaboration between CPA Canada and the provincial accounting bodies,” says Joy Thomas, president and CEO, CPA Canada. “We look forward to having our members gather on Canada’s east coast in 2018 to collectively address emerging issues affecting our profession.”

UNITING THE PROFESSION

This is the first time CPA Canada will be collaborating with multiple provinces for The ONE National Conference. Launched in Toronto in 2014, the conference’s impetus was to unify the Canadian accounting profession. Today, The ONE draws on past legacy conferences and has evolved into a must-attend, multi-track event for professional development.

It truly is the national conference for Canadian CPAs, offering four learning streams and valuable opportunities to network with more than 1,000 CPAs from across the country.

The ONE has been held in the cities of Toronto, Vancouver and Ottawa, featuring successful partnerships with both CPA Ontario and CPA British Columbia. Tanya O’Brien, CEO of CPA Prince Edward Island, looks forward to having the conference visit eastern Canada.

“Collaboration on The ONE allows our members access to a national forum in their own backyard,” she explains. “Hosting the conference is an opportunity for us to focus on critical issues facing businesses in this region, and our members will appreciate being able to network with colleagues from across Canada.”

SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH ADAPTABILITY

With globalization, new technologies and the rise of significant environmental, social and political issues, business leaders are facing change and uncertainty. It’s critical that Canadian CPAs are able to adapt and help organizations stay ahead of the curve. Adaptability is crucial if organizations are to become more sustainable and develop innovative strategies for long-term profitability. The ONE speakers will be addressing these issues and will provide tools, tactics and resources to help CPAs navigate change.

This year’s conference theme is Sustainability through adaptability.
