This October, CPA Canada is introducing the Public Sector Certificate Program, a new specialty credential program for public sector financial professionals created in collaboration with the Financial Management Institute of Canada.

The Public Sector Certificate Program is designed to meet the needs of public sector financial professionals – today and in the future. It offers valuable guidance and consensus on core competencies in public sector accounting, financial reporting, PSAB standards and more.

It consists of two levels, with multiple assessments at each level, integrating both online modules and classroom components. Each stage of the program features access to Public Sector Connect, an exclusive discussion forum for certificate participants and facilitators.

Level I addresses public sector foundations with 40 hours of interactive online learning and case studies, while Level II focuses on financial reporting and financial management in the public sector with 30 hours of interactive online learning and an in-person, two-day final capstone session.
