Two CPA Canada tax committees welcome new chairs

CPA Canada welcomes new chairs for our Joint Committee on Taxation of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) and CPA Canada, and our Small and Medium Practitioner Tax Committee.

New joint tax committee chair

Kim G C Moody will be taking on the role of CPA Canada co-chair of the Joint Committee on Taxation of the CBA and CPA Canada (Joint Tax Committee). In place for approximately 70 years, the Joint Tax Committee is a collaboration of CPA Canada and the CBA that regularly offers input to the Department of Finance Canada on technical aspects of current and proposed tax laws.

Kim is director of the Canadian Tax Advisory practice of Moodys Gartner Tax Law LLP. With over 20 years of experience in tax, Kim’s main area of expertise is tax and estate planning for owner-managers of private corporations, executives and professional athletes.

Kim succeeds Janice Russell, a tax partner with Deloitte LLP, who will serve on the committee as past chair for one year.

New SMP tax committee chair

Michael Cadesky is taking the helm of CPA Canada’s Small and Medium Practitioner (SMP) Tax Committee. This committee acts as a resource to enable CPA Canada to respond to the needs of CPAs who own or work in smaller firms by considering existing and proposed government activities in income and commodity taxation from the viewpoint of small- and medium-sized tax practitioners.

Michael is the managing partner of Cadesky and Associates, LLP, Canadian, U.S. and International Tax Specialists. He has practiced tax for 30 years, specializing in Canadian and international income tax.

Michael succeeds the committee’s inaugural chair, Murray Mikulak, a partner of Mikulak & Hill LLP, who will serve on the committee as past chair for one year.
