Firms move away from traditional work time/place

Public accounting firms are moving away from the traditional time ("when we work") and place ("where we work") paradigm, with flexibility of the workplace seeing the most progress.

The 2015 Anytime, Anywhere Work Survey by US-based ConvergenceCoaching collected information about the adoption of flexible work initiatives within public accounting firms.

Key findings:

  • 97 per cent of the firms surveyed offer flexible work arrangements such as late start, part time and four-day work weeks
  • 36 per cent of firms no longer mandate Saturday work during busy season, while 56 per cent still mandate Saturday work
  • 43 per cent of firms have implemented performance measures for staff that are not based on time (up from 39 per cent in 2014)
  • 92 per cent of firms responding offer a work-from-home program (up from 77 per cent in 2014)
  • 33 per cent of respondents close their offices for all or part of Fridays during the summer (up from 27 per cent in 2014)
