Awards for tax excellence: Hats off to this year’s winners

CPA Canada has honoured three outstanding tax professionals for their contributions and service.

Earlier this fall, three tax professionals were honoured at national gatherings of their peers for their excellent service to the profession.

Peter L. Mitchell and Craig M. McDougall, both of Felesky Flynn LLP in Calgary, were awarded the Normand Guérin Award at this year’s Commodity Tax Symposium. This award is presented annually in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the advancement of commodity tax studies. In particular, Peter and Craig were honoured for their technical paper Characterization Issues in the Resource Industry.

Hugh Neilson, of Kingston Ross Pasnak LLP in Edmonton, was presented with Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada)’s Award for Excellence in Income Tax at this year’s National Conference on Income Taxes. This award is granted annually to the professional who best exemplifies the highest qualities of a tax specialist in Canada through their work for CPA Canada (or a predecessor organization) in tax education, tax policy or tax administration.

Join us in congratulating Peter, Craig and Hugh on receiving these well-deserved awards and in celebrating their contributions.
