Education costs

More than half of Canadian CPAs got through their education debt-free, according to our latest reader poll.

More than half of Canadian CPAs paid for their education without going into debt and 38% of CPA students expect to follow suit, our latest reader poll finds. How is this possible? Most relied on their own savings/earnings (44% CPAs; 56% students), while some received money from parents or others (13% CPAs; 33% students). A significant minority of CPA respondents who got through school debt-free also cited employer-paid tuition (25%) and scholarships/bursaries (19%) as their major source of education funding, compared with just 5.6% each for the CPA students.
