That's entertainment

After stints as an auditor and in corporate accounting, Cheryl Quigley has taken the helm as Sony Canada’s new director of finance.

From her first day on the job 10 years ago, Cheryl Quigley knew she wanted to stick around at Sony. "I already had their products in my house!" she says. "So I thought it would be cool to be a part of bringing these products to other people’s homes and businesses." Now, after stints as an auditor and in corporate accounting, Quigley has taken the helm as Sony Canada’s director of finance, overseeing the company’s credit, accounts payable and payroll departments. Sure, on the surface it might not seem as exciting as other Sony gigs (Seth Rogen, anyone?), but finance is truly the backbone of the company, according to Quigley. "We have to be efficient and reactive so that we can support the other groups whose job is to deliver great, unique customer experiences," she says, which is key to the company’s recipe for success. "Electronics has become such a competitive market. But understanding our customers and giving them an experience they can’t get anywhere else is the best way for us to stay competitive."
