Dancing to her own tune

Jenny Duffy combines her flair for business with her passion for dance as the owner of her own choreography and consulting company.

Jenny Duffy loves to dance. She’s been doing it since she was three and continued to sauté, jeté and choreograph while studying to become an accountant, which she eventually did. But while she was pursuing a career as an accountant, she realized she wanted to get back to her first passion and establish a name for herself in the dance industry. So in 2010, she started Jenny Duffy Dance Services, which offers “sassy but classy” choreography and consulting. Her business acumen is still in check: not only is she still active within the accounting community (she’s a facilitator for CPA Canada), but Duffy does the contracts, sends out invoices, files taxes and does the bookkeeping for her studio on top of her choreography and training duties. “The CPA in me loves taking a piece from conception to full execution and seeing it on stage with lights, a cheering audience, costumes, hair and makeup.”
