Telus takes top Corporate Reporting Awards prize — again

Telus wins the Overall Award of Excellence at the CRAs for the fourth year in a row.

Telus is a tough act to beat. The telecommunications giant took top honours for the fourth consecutive year at the 62nd annual CPA Canada Corporate Reporting Awards (CRAs) gala in December. In addition to capturing the Overall Award of Excellence, Telus brought home the Award of Excellence in the Communications and Media sector and Honourable Mentions for Financial Reporting and Sustainability Reporting.

The CRAs encourage excellence in corporate reporting. “The competition, combined with the judges' direct feedback to each participant, helps strengthen Canada’s already strong corporate reporting,” says Kevin Dancey, FCPA, FCA, president and CEO of CPA Canada.

In the Crown Corporation category, the 2013 winners were CBC/Radio-Canada (Large-Federal), Defence Construction Canada (Small-Federal) and SaskTel (Provincial).

PotashCorp was a three-time winner, earning Awards of Excellence in Mining, Financial Reporting and Electronic Disclosure. Suncor won in the Oil and Gas sector, and won a second award for Sustainability Reporting. Royal Bank of Canada captured the Award of Excellence in the Financial Services sector and an Honourable Mention in the Corporate Governance category. TD Bank Group took home top prize in Corporate Governance Disclosure while Goldcorp earned Honourable Mention for Electronic Disclosure.

Industry sector Awards of Excellence went to Capstone Infrastructure (Clean Technology), Canadian Tire (Consumer Products), Stantec (Diversified Industries), Bombardier (Industrials and Energy), Catalyst Paper (Small Cap/Venture), and Enbridge (Utilities/Pipelines and Real Estate).
