My wife made me do it

South African accountant to serve jail time after stealing a million dollars so his wife could maintain her wealthy lifestyle.

A former South African accountant sentenced to eight years in prison for stealing 1.3 million rand from his employer blames the crime on his rich wife, saying he felt pressure to keep her in the style to which she had become accustomed.

Jacques Wilhem Grobler, 37, transferred funds worth more than US$130,000 from the Motheo Further Education and Training College where he worked into his own accounts over a two-year period ending March 2011, leaving the school unable to pay its staff or buy books for students.

He was convicted in September on 60 counts of fraud and theft.
