Steve Latimer

Steve is a partner in the domestic tax group in Grant Thornton’s Halifax Office. Steve’s primary area of focus is tax planning for small- and medium-sized privately held companies and their shareholders. Steve works closely with businesses across all industries and enjoys developing and implementing plans to ensure their short- and long-term business and succession planning goals can be achieved in a tax-efficient manner.

Steve graduated from Cape Breton University in 2007, earned his Chartered Accountant designation in 2009 and completed in CPA Canada In-Depth Tax program in 2016. Steve has tutored in the CPA In-Depth Tax Part I and Part II programs, is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Nova Scotia, the Canadian Tax Foundation, and Grant Thornton’s National Succession and Estate Planning Leadership Committee.

Outside of work, Steve loves to be outdoors and enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing and camping with his wife and two sons. Steve also enjoys being involved in his community, sitting on the boards of various local community groups, and helping coach the minor sports teams his kids play on.
