Stéphane Marcassa

Stéphane is a partner at Barsalou Lawson Rheault. His practice is focused primarily on advising clients on operations and transactions in the field of indirect taxes. Stéphane also represents clients before tax authorities on various tax issues, in particular GST/HST/QST, retail sales tax, fuel and excise taxes, and other indirect tax matters. Before joining the firm in 2015, Stéphane worked 18 years in one of the largest accounting and consulting firms in the world (the “Big 4”). He has extensive experience serving national and multinational clients in all industries and advising them on various topics, including compliance, audits, assessments and appeals, planning, mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions, corporate reorganizations and tax refunds. Stéphane has been a member of the Quebec Bar since 1993 and holds a graduate diploma in taxation from McGill University. He is also a member of the Association de planification fiscale et financière (APFF), the Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Tax Foundation. He is a former contributor to the CCH monthly tax newsletter and a frequent speaker for the APFF and other organizations.
