Shelley Smith

Shelley is the Indirect Tax Practice Leader for BDO Canada.

Shelley has over twenty five years of experience in the field of taxation, and has developed an in-depth knowledge in the area of indirect tax. She has provided indirect tax planning services including advice and strategies for the Goods and Services Tax/Harmonized Sales Tax, Quebec Sales Tax and provincial sales tax to a wide variety of private and public companies, and not-for-profit organizations. Moreover, she has provided advice on indirect tax issues to clients operating in a wide range of industries, including distribution, pharmaceutical, retail, real estate, and professional services.

Shelley has been invited to lecture at the Ordre des CPA du Québec, the Montréal Accountant’s Study Group, and the CPA Canada Commodity Tax Symposium on various sales tax-related topics.
